Description

This barn, located to the southeast of Hawthorn Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is weatherboarded, featuring a brick and flint plinth. The upper level of the east lean-to addition has brick infill, and the roof is covered with old tiles. The barn consists of three bays and has a central wagon entry. The southeast lean-to end is storeyed and also has a tiled roof with a flint plinth. Inside, there are raking queen post roof trusses and straight tiebeam braces, with massive timbers used for the posts and tiebeams.
