Description
Rose Cottage is a house that was once a pair of cottages, dating from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill, with some panels rendered, and the front bay has a deep flint plinth. The front gable has been rebuilt in brick and is whitewashed. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a central brick chimney. The building has one storey and an attic, consisting of two bays. There are paired wooden casements, mostly from the 20th century, with those in the attic located in dormers that follow the catslide eaves-line. Early 20th-century board doors are located to the left and right, with the right door having a shallow gabled wooden hood supported by shaped brackets. In the center, there are two brick and flint oven projections beneath a lean-to roof. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered spine beam in the far bay, a winder stair aligned with the stack, an angled fireplace in the corner of the near bay, and a cellar located below the near bay.
