Description
The Old School House is a house that was formerly a school and the schoolmaster's residence, and at one time served as a reading room. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of knapped flint with red and blue brick dressings, featuring a flush first-floor band of yellow and blue brick and dentil eaves. The building has a hipped tile roof and is two storeys high with three bays. The left bay, which was originally the schoolroom, has two pointed arched windows on the ground floor, each with paired wooden casements and traceried top lights. There is a round window on the first floor. The rest of the house is double-fronted, with segmental-headed sash windows flanking a flush-panelled door that is set within a gabled timber porch. The left side has been partially rebuilt and features 20th-century sash windows. There are also 20th-century flint and brick extensions at the rear. The building is included for its group value.
