Description

Garden Cottages is a pair of houses located on Oving Church Road. Number 2 dates from the mid to late 18th century and has been altered. The building is constructed of red and vitreous brick, featuring red brick quoins and window surrounds, a first-floor band course, and moulded eaves. The right end has been rebuilt in the 20th century. It has an old tile roof with a large 18th-century brick chimney on the left and a smaller chimney on the right. The house is two storeys high with two bays. The sash windows have been altered, with the ground floor left window having a segmental head. The ground floor right features a 20th-century bay window with a hipped tile roof that extends to form a hood over the central door. The door is four-panelled and has a rectangular fanlight above, along with a blind window panel.

Attached to the left is No. 1, which is made of coursed rubble stone and brick. The left bay has 18th-century brick with a band course on the ground floor and 19th-century brick above. It has a 20th-century tile roof and a brick chimney on the left. This house is also two storeys high with two bays, featuring irregular barred wooden casements and a door with a flat hood supported by shaped wooden brackets. There is a single-storey extension from the 19th to 20th century on the left.
