Description
Butler's Manor is a house that dates from the 16th to 17th century and features an L-plan layout with 19th-century extensions in the angle and to the northwest, as well as a large 20th-century extension to the southwest. The older part of the building has a timber frame with brick infill, while the ground floor and southeast gable have been rebuilt in brick. The remainder of the structure is brick, with the 20th-century part incorporating some half-timbering. The roofs are tiled, and there are brick chimneys. The rear of the main 16th to 17th-century wing has a large cruciform chimney made of thin brick, which has been rebuilt. The house has two storeys and an attic, with three gabled bays on the southeast side. The windows are irregular 20th-century barred wooden casements. The right bay features flanking brick pilasters, a worn stone inscription tablet below the attic window, and a fire insurance plaque. The centre bay, which is from the 19th century, has a 20th-century door set in a 20th-century gabled porch. The left bay is from the 20th century. The rear wing of the original building is only two storeys high and has a lean-to at the back. The interior has been significantly altered, with some old timbers added. The house is situated on a moated site.
