Description

Beacon Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, with a 20th-century addition to the south and a lean-to to the west. The original section has a timber frame with diagonal bracing and brick infill, while the ground floor was rebuilt in white brick during the 19th or 20th century. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is an 18th-century brick chimney on the far gable. The two-storey front has a mix of 19th and 20th-century wooden casement windows. The gable facing the road features two three-light casements and a single light on the ground floor, with traces of an earlier three-light window in the centre of the first floor. The left side of the building has two paired casements on the first floor, a three-light casement below, and a boarded door to the right. The 20th-century bay is constructed of red brick with an old tile roof, a single storey and attic, wooden casements, and a door in the far gable.
