Description

Lock 31 on the Grand Union Canal is a canal lock built around 1800, with some later alterations. It features brick retaining walls topped with stone coping. The lock has two pairs of gates equipped with sluices and winding gear, with the quoins dated 1862 and 1867. At the northern end, there are brick steps, and two cast iron bollards are present. Additionally, there are two side ponds that include sluices and winding gear, which are dated 1889.
