Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating from the 18th century, which incorporates parts of a 16th-century structure. It features painted roughcast walls and a hipped tiled roof with a brick chimney located to the right of the center. The rear slope has three dormers, while the front displays a moulded brick eaves cornice and bracketed eaves at the rear. The building is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation includes a large two-storey semicircular central projection that has a six-panel door, with two upper glazed panels, at the ground floor and a sash window above. To the right, there is one bay of sash windows, all set within architrave surrounds, and three small triangular windows to the left. The rear elevation features a central two-storey canted bay with sash windows, flanked on the first floor by wide four-pane sashes, and two sash windows to the right on the ground floor. A service wing is located at the northern end and includes a second chimney. Inside, the entrance hall boasts a richly moulded ceiling beam and a bracket dated 1582 with the initials M.I. The building was damaged by fire and underwent repairs in 1983.
