Description
Finemerehill House is a house that was probably built around 1875, possibly incorporating parts of an older structure. It was constructed for the Verney family as part of the Claydon estate. The house features a timber frame with diagonal braces and brick nogging, some of which is patterned. It has half-hipped tile roofs and brick chimneys with diagonal shafts and cogged heads, with the southern wing having a central pair of stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape with a projection at the rear angle and has one and a half storeys plus an attic, consisting of two bays. The windows are barred wooden casements, and there is a central door located in a gabled porch. Inside the porch, there are two stone tablets dated 1628 and 1875. Finemerehill House is noted as an unusually late example of the local technique of timber-frame building and is recognized for its picturesque quality.
