Description
The range of three barns located to the west of Abovemead Farmhouse dates from the 18th century. The main barn features weatherboarding on a timber frame, a rubble stone plinth, and a corrugated iron roof. It has six and a half bays, with the northwest side including an aisle and cart entries to the right, one of which is gabled and located in the second full bay. The aisle is equipped with skylights. Inside, there are braced tie beams, raking and curved queen struts, and diagonally braced single purlins. Attached to the south is a smaller three-bay barn, and to the north is a two-bay barn from the 19th century constructed of brick with a half-hipped tiled roof.
