Description
Dodleyhill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. The building features exposed timber framing at part of the rear and the upper left gable, while the rest is covered with pebbledash. It has an old tile roof and flanking brick chimneys, arranged in a T-plan with a central passage. The house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of three bays. The outer bays have 19th-century tripartite sash windows on the ground floor and 20th-century three-light metal casements on the first floor. The centre bay contains a small sash window above a 20th-century door, which is framed by a 19th-century surround featuring fluted pilaster strips, scroll brackets, a panelled frieze, and a cornice hood. There are attic windows in the gables. The rear wing includes a lean-to made of coursed rubble stone at the far end, along with a later extension at the northwest angle of the main wing. The 19th-century extension on the left is constructed of red and white brick, featuring dentilled eaves and a slate roof. This extension is also two storeys tall, with the ground floor showcasing two three-light leaded windows with segmental heads on the left, a small wooden window on the right, and a 20th-century three-light metal casement on the first floor. A six-panelled door, which is top-lit, is situated between the right-hand windows and has a lean-to hood supported by brackets.
