Description
The screen railings and gates at Remnantz, located on the southeast side of West Street, date from the early 19th century and feature an elaborate design. The screen consists of a series of circular brick piers with moulded stone bases and caps topped with stone balls. Between the piers are plain rails typical of the early 19th century. Opposite the main door, there is a fine reconstructed 18th-century wrought iron gate, which has equal-sized fixed panels on each side. The gate features plain rails with scroll pattern side panels and pyramid scroll cresting. A similar screen and gates are located on the opposite side of the road, providing access to the public recreation ground, which is listed as a separate item.
