Description

The Five Bells is a house dating from the 17th and early 18th century. It is located on High Street, Ludgershall. The front of the house has a timber frame construction; two bays on the right feature diagonal bracing, colourwashed render infill, and a rendered plinth. The left bay has lighter timber framing and colourwashed brick infill. The left gable has been rebuilt in brick, while the right gable is weatherboarded, and the rear wall is of rubble stone. The roof is thatched and half-hipped to the left. Brick chimneys are present to the right and between the left bays, with the latter having been rebuilt. The house is in an L-shape. It has one and a half storeys and three bays. The windows are irregular 2 and 3-light, 20th-century leaded casements, with two upper windows set into the thatch. A 20th-century door leads to a gabled porch between the left bays. A low thatched wing extends to the rear.
