Description

The Bell is an early to mid-18th century public house, altered in the early 19th century and the 20th century. It is built of red brick, with some vitreous brick detailing, and has a projecting plinth, dentilled eaves, and a hipped roof covered in old tiles. A central brick chimney dating to the 18th century has an off-set head and two semi-circular arched recesses facing the front. The building is two storeys high, with a cellar. The ground floor features 20th-century bowed oriel windows with barred wooden casements. The first floor has three-light wooden casements. A cellar opening is located on the left side. The central entrance has a half-glazed door with a minimal cornice hood. A narrower, parallel range extends to the rear. The building is of group value, contributing to the character of the area.
