Description

The cowsheds, located adjacent to the west of The Dairy, were built around 1880-1890, likely by W. Taylor of Bierton, as part of the estate for Ferdinand de Rothschild. They are constructed from red brick with blue diaper patterns on the south front, featuring roughcast and half-timbering on the gables and upper storey, along with a central gable that has some tile hanging. The roofs are tiled.

The building has a courtyard plan and presents a picturesque south front. It is mostly single-storey, with a section that includes a hayloft. The south front consists of five bays, flanked by two-storey towers topped with pyramid roofs, and features three-light wooden casements in oriel windows on the first floor. The central bay is gabled, while the intermediate bays have strip windows located below the eaves and small ornamental gables in the roof. The rear wings are plainer. The courtyard now includes a 20th-century roof and cattle pens.

This structure is included for its group value.
