Description
Green View and Skittle Green Cottage are two cottages that were originally a single house, with origins dating back to the medieval period, and further developments in the 17th and 18th centuries. The building features a combination of timber framing, colourwashed brick, and colourwashed plaster infill. Skittle Green Cottage has a thatched roof, while the eastern half, known as Green View, has a half-hipped roof covered with old tiles. There is also a tiled wing attached to Skittle Green Cottage.
The structure is one and a half storeys tall, with each cottage consisting of two bays on either side of a party wall. The entrance to Green View is located on the right side, accessed through a modern porch with a tiled roof and a half-glazed door. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window, while the left bay features another two-light casement with shutters. The cottage has two three-light gabled eaves dormers and a central stack. A modern two-storey wing is located at the rear.
Skittle Green Cottage has two-light casement windows on the ground floor, with a door in a projecting wing and a three-light casement window to the right. It also features two-light eaves dormers in the thatched bays and a stack on the west gable. Inside, there are two pairs of cruck blades with a ridge purlin, one pair in each cottage, along with chamfered and stopped spine beams and inglenook lintels.
