Description
Nos 2 and 3 on The Green are two cottages that were originally three. They likely date from the late 17th century to early 18th century and have undergone later alterations. The cottages are timber-framed with brick infill and feature a brick gable wall. They have a thatched roof with brick end stacks and a rear side stack. The building has a rectangular plan with four or five structural bays aligned north to south and is one storey with an attic.
The east elevation includes five windows with gabled dormers under eyebrows, featuring late 19th century to early 20th century casements. All windows have two lights, except for the second one from the right, which has three lights. The ground floor has similar casements and two entries, each under gabled porches, with late 19th century ledged doors located to the left and right of the center. The frame consists of three square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. The south gable is constructed of late 19th century to early 20th century brick, while the north gable features parallel V-struts from the tie to the principals. The interior has not been inspected.
