Description
Box Cottage is an 18th-century cottage that has been altered, with modifications made around 1981. The building features a combination of witchert, which is colourwashed and rendered, sitting on a rubble plinth, and part timber framing with plastered infill. The north bay is constructed of colourwashed brick, while the upper floor on the west side has planted timber framing. There is a modern wing that extends at right angles from the north bay. The cottage has a thatched roof that is half-hipped on the street-facing gable elevation, and the modern addition has an old tile roof. The entrance leads into the modern wing, and the windows are mostly irregular casements, with many being modern leaded designs. Additionally, there are two two-light eaves dormers on the west elevation, and a chimney stack is located between the bays and on the north gable.
