Description

The Old School and The School House, located on Crendon Road, are two houses that were originally a school room and a master's house. The central part of the building dates back to the 17th century, while the west range was added in the mid-18th century and the school room was built around 1850. The 17th-century section is timber framed and rendered on the south side, while the 18th-century house is constructed of grey brick with red detailing. The school room is made of brick, and all sections have old tiled roofs.

The house is two storeys tall, and the school room is a single storey. The master's house features three bays, with a blocked central door and first-floor window. The outer bays have box sash windows, and there is a band course between the storeys along with cogged eaves and gable stacks. The south gable elevation includes box sashes, while the north elevation has blocked box sashes. The central range has a door on the south side, and the north gable is timber framed with a four-light leaded casement window. The 17th-century section has a central stack.

The school room, known as The Old School, has two bays and its south elevation features two three-light Gothic arched windows with transoms. The east end is half hipped and has a three-light Gothick window, also with a transom. There is a school cloakroom and entry at the southeast angle with a lean-to tiled roof. Inside, there is a curved principal tie beam truss. A modern northeast wing has been added but is of no historic interest.
