Description

The White Cottage, situated within the gardens of Ickford House, is a house with a medieval and 17th-century origin. The east side exhibits timber framing with cruck construction. The remainder of the exterior is colourwashed rubble stone and later brick. The roof is thatched, with a half-hipped north end. The house is one storey high with dormers. The west elevation features four casement windows and a smaller, two-light eaves dormer window. The rear, east-facing elevation has two doors and three casement windows. A small attic window is located in the north gable, and a larger window is in the south gable. Inside, two cruck trusses frame the centre bay, which contains a 17th-century inserted stack and has not been floored. The south bay contains a 17th-century spine beam with run-out stops.
