Description
Rose Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century. It features a combination of timber framing, witchert, and rubblestone, all of which have been colourwashed and rendered. The roof is thatched and has a half-hipped design. The house consists of three bays and is one storey high with an attic.
On the west elevation, there are two 2-light leaded casements in the southern bays, and a flat-roofed single-storey addition to the northern bay that includes a doorway. The entry is located within this extension, in front of the stack situated between the northern bays. The stack is made of old thin brick and is now partly rendered. There is a central 2-light eyebrow dormer on this elevation.
The east front has two leaded light casements in the southern bays, a plain casement in the northern bay, and a central 2-light eyebrow dormer. There is also a lean-to on the north side and a modern round-headed window in the north gable.
Inside, the cottage features chamfered and stopped spine beams in the southern rooms, while the northern room has a chamfered spine beam.
