Description
Horseshoe Cottage is a house that originated as a single bay in the 17th century and was later extended to the front in the late 18th and 19th centuries, creating an L-shaped plan. It features a 18th-century bay at the rear, which may have once been an outbuilding, along with a 20th-century single-storey extension in the angle. The front facing the road is made of whitewashed brick and includes a timber truss in the left gable, an old tiled roof, and rebuilt brick chimneys. The cottage is two storeys high with two bays. The left bay has a gabled front and features 20th-century three-light leaded casements with segmental heads. To the right, there is a boarded door within a timber-framed porch. The right bay has off-set eaves and 20th-century two-light casements, with the lower ones being leaded and having a segmental head. A shallow full-height lean-to of whitewashed brick is located to the left. Inside the 17th-century bay, there is a timber frame with large curved braces, a stop-chamfered spine beam, and a large chimney stack aligned with a winder stair.
