Description

Rose Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th century, featuring a gabled wing on the right that has been altered in the 19th century and extended to the rear in the 20th century. To the left is a taller bay from the 17th century. The 16th and 17th century sections are timber framed, with planked timbers and whitewashed render infill. The front gable of the 16th century wing and its right side have been rebuilt in brick during the 19th century. The house has old tile roofs and a large external brick chimney from the 17th century on the left, along with a partly rebuilt brick chimney on the right gable. The building has a T-plan and is two storeys high. The left bay and the left return wall of the right bay feature irregular 19th century cast iron casements with small panes. There is a half-glazed door in the angle, topped with a lean-to hood supported by cut brackets. The right side has four bays, with two from the 20th century. The ground floor includes three 3-light barred wooden casements, while the first floor has cast iron casements. A 20th century glazed door is located in the second bay, accompanied by a 20th century gabled timber porch. At the rear, there is a conservatory. Inside, the 16th century part has heavy stop-chamfered joists and a chamfered cross beam, while the 17th century bay features a chamfered cross beam with bar stops and fireplaces with chamfered brick arches on both floors.
