Description
Pilgrims Rest is a 16th-century timber-framed house that was refronted in the 18th century. It has three bays and two storeys. The roof is hipped and covered in old tiles, with gables visible. The front facing the High Street is rendered and colourwashed, with a band course and dentilled eaves. It has 19th-century windows; sliding sash windows are on the ground floor, and casements on the first floor. The east-facing elevation, which overlooks a passageway, features a timber-framed upper floor with a jetty, set above a brick underbuilding. A north range, dating to the 17th century, has a timber-framed upper floor and a brick ground floor; the brickwork is painted. There is an outshot to the west half of the rear elevation. A large stack, which has been altered, is located at the junction between the north range and the main house.
