Description

Ye Olde Shoppe is a late 16th century, two-bay, two-storey house that was refronted to the street in the 18th century. The upper floor features box sash windows with 19th century margined panes, and there is a hanging sign bracket between the windows. The central door is flanked by later shop windows. The building has an old tiled roof. At the rear, the house displays close-studded timber framing and a jettied upper floor, although the jetty has been underbuilt in brick. The infilling is done with brick on edge, and there are casement windows. Inside, the timber framing is exposed.
