Description
Church Farmhouse and Barn are a 17th-century house with an attached barn, altered and extended in the 19th century. The farmhouse is timber-framed with thin brick infill, whitewashed on the north side. The gable facing the street was rebuilt in brick in the late 19th century and features cusped bargeboards. The roof is thatched, with a hipped end over a 19th-century extension, and two intermediate chimneys; one is rendered with grouped shafts, and the other is a single brick shaft. The farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, originally comprising three bays. The second bay has been substantially rebuilt with 20th-century brick infill. It has irregular, leaded casements, with a 19th-century sash window in the centre of the first floor. A board door is located between the right-hand bays. A fire insurance plaque is set into the centre bay. A lean-to is attached to the right. The street-facing gable contains a 20th-century paired leaded casement to the right of a 20th-century door, and barred horizontal sliding sash windows to the first floor and attic. A 19th-century single-bay extension is to the left, with similar casements. The barn, situated to the far left along the street, dates to the 18th century and is constructed of blackened rubble stone, brick and weatherboard, with a thatched roof.
