Description
The Unicorn is a public house that underwent remodelling in the late 18th century, although it incorporates elements from an earlier building. It is constructed of red and vitreous brick, featuring a moulded plinth and cogged eaves, while the right gable is roughcast. The building has an old tile roof with flanking brick chimneys and consists of two storeys and cellars, arranged in four bays. The left bay includes a 20th-century lean-to extension, while the other bays have three-light barred wooden casements, with the ground floor right window having a segmental head. There are two cellar openings, and the entry in the second bay is accessed through a 20th-century lean-to porch. A small gabled porch with a boarded door is situated between the right-hand bays, and there is a gabled extension from the 19th to 20th century on the left. Inside, the building features a 17th-century chamfered spine beam with one carved wooden bracket, which may have been relocated.
