Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is constructed of irregularly chequered brick, with a plinth, a first-floor band course, and moulded eaves. The roof is slate-covered, and there are chimney stacks of thin brick between the right-hand bays and to the left gable. The house has two storeys and an attic. The front has four bays. Bays one and three have renewed four-pane sash windows, with gauged heads to the ground-floor windows. There are blocked windows in the right-hand bay. Bay two slightly projects and features a leaded oval window above a flush-panelled door with a leaded rectangular fanlight. Another flush-panelled door is located between the right-hand bays, with a blocked single light above. A 19th-century two-storey extension is attached to the left. The south side has two gables, each with two three-pane sashes to each main floor. The left attic has a blocked window, and the right attic has a paired leaded casement. First and second-floor bandcourses are present, with rendered voussoirs over the sashes. The rear has a gabled projection with leaded mullion and transom windows. The interior features a large fireplace with a moulded stone Tudor arch; a courtroom with moulded bolection panelling; a room in the southwest corner of the ground floor containing a fireplace from around 1700 with a mythological painting on the overmantel; and a staircase of a similar date with twisted balusters, a moulded handrail, a closed string, a dog-gate, and plain panelling to the walls.
