Description

The Stable Block at Cottage Farm, dated 1872, is constructed of brick and features highly decorative moulded work on the door and window arches, eaves, and first-floor band. The building has a tiled roof that includes a band of fish-scale tiles and a wooden louvre positioned left of center, topped with a steep turret roof. Iron finials are located at each end of the roof.

The structure consists of one storey and a two-storey tower to the left of center, which has a conical roof and a pigeon loft beneath moulded brick eaves that resemble machicolation. The ground floor features a double arched window, with a loft door situated above it. An angled and offset buttress is found on the right side.

To the right of the tower is a section with machicolated eaves and a later canopy. The left section contains a semi-circular arched door at the center, flanked by a stone-capped buttress and a three-light casement window on each side. A stone plaque is positioned in the left-hand gable, while the right-hand gable displays a large herringbone brick panel with a stepped head, triple attic vents with shaped ends above, and an arched window below.
