Description

This is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. The lower part of the brickwork is of thin brick up to the level of the first-floor window sills, while the upper part is of red and vitreous brick. A band course runs around the first floor and there are moulded dentil eaves. The roof is tiled and hipped on the right-hand side. A large brick chimney-stack of thin brick, with "V" nibs, is located on the right, and there is another chimney at the rear. The house has two storeys and three bays. The windows are late 19th and early 20th century 3-light wooden casements with single horizontal glazing bars. A 18th-century 2-panel door is located between the left bays, flanked by single windows. A fine 18th-century wooden porch, with Doric columns to the front and pilasters to the rear, is situated at the front of the house. Each side of the porch is framed by a segmental arch supporting a cornice with carved scroll modillions. Cast iron railings attached to the sides of the porch and to the front of the house feature two tiers of scrolled spearhead finials.
