Description
The United Reformed Church, built around 1839, is a church constructed from pale red and vitreous chequer brick, featuring a stone-coped gable with ball finials at the front and a slate roof. The gable facing the street has two tall semi-circular arched windows with cast iron glazing bars and gauged brick arches. A central 20th-century rendered porch, which is gabled, has double doors. The north-west end of the church was rebuilt in the 20th century following bomb damage. Inside, there is a sloping south-east gallery with a panelled front supported by two slender fluted Doric shafts. The interior also includes wood-grained dado panelling and a similar reading desk with twisted balusters and shaped panelling behind. The seating in the gallery is original, while the other pews date from the later 19th century.
