Description
Scar View is a small farmhouse and barn or stable that has been converted into a dwelling. It likely dates from the early 18th century and has undergone some alterations. The building features white-painted random rubble stone and a stone slate roof. It is arranged in a single depth with one and two units, oriented on a north-south axis and facing west.
The structure has two low storeys and a total of three windows. The two-window domestic section includes a small gabled porch at the south end, which has a doorway on its left side and a window on the front. There are also two 2-light casements on each floor. To the left, the former barn or stable has a wide square-headed doorway at the junction and a 3-light casement on the first floor. A small ridge chimney is located at the junction of the two sections.
The south gable end is now covered by a 19th-century addition, which is not of special interest. The rear and interior of the building have not been inspected. Scar View forms a group with Brookside and is included for its contribution to a significant rural grouping of buildings.
