Description
Brookside is a small house, likely built in the early 18th century and later extended. It features white-painted random rubble with quoins and a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan oriented east-west, facing south, and consists of one and a half to two units, possibly double-depth.
The house has two low storeys and a window arrangement of 1:2. The main range, which has two units, includes a small gabled porch that is slightly offset to the left. At the ground floor, there are two square 4-pane sash windows, with another sash window to the left on the first floor and a top-hung casement window to the right that mimics a 4-pane sash. The extension to the left is slightly lower and features a 4-pane fixed window at ground level and an altered 4-pane window above. This extension is slightly overlapped by the southeast corner of Scar View.
A large square corbelled chimney is located at the right-hand gable. The gable wall has some through-stones and features a window near each corner of the ground floor; one window resembles those at the front, while the other is round-headed. The rear and interior of the building have not been inspected.
