Description

Skirfare Bridge is a bridge over the River Wharfe, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features three rounded arches, with the central arch being higher than the two side arches. Each arch is flanked by pointed cutwaters on both the upstream and downstream sides. Pilasters are positioned beside the arches and are topped with a continuous projecting band at road level, which extends up to the rounded coping of the parapet. The stones of the bridge display a variety of masons' marks.
