Description
Old Northcote Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, which was completely remodeled in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with quoins at the corners. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed four-panel door set in a plain surround, which is covered by a gabled timber porch with lattice work. To the right of the door is a small square window. The farmhouse has 20th-century casement windows throughout, all set in plain stone surrounds, with the first-floor lintels reaching eaves height. There is a blocked round-headed window from the 17th century on the ground floor to the right. The ends of the building have corniced stacks. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey. Historically, Northcote was a grange of Fountains Abbey, serving the significant center at Kilnsey.
