Description
Ashfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1705, featuring the initials W. & M.M. on the lintel. It has undergone later alterations, likely around 1824 when stables were added to the north. The building is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with quoins and is limewashed. It has a graduated slate roof and is symmetrical, with two storeys and three bays. The central porch has a lead roof and is supported by Tuscan pilasters, featuring a segmental-arched head and a part-glazed inner door. There are tripartite sash windows on either side of the porch on both floors, as well as a sash window above, all with glazing bars. The farmhouse has stone copings and kneelers, along with stone end chimneys. A plank door is located on the south return, framed by an architrave with a dated lintel, and there is a blocked 2-light mullioned attic window above it. Inside, the bedrooms have panelled oak partitions. There are outbuildings adjoining to the north, but they are not of interest.
