SD68NE DENTDALE 162-1/10/109 (North side) 14/06/84 Barn (called Hazel Haw) approx. 75m north of Lunds Farmhouse (Formerly Listed as: DENTDALE Lunds, Barn to north (called Hazel Haw), Barn to south and Barn to east)

Farmhouse and attached barn, now all used as barn. Probably late C17 or early C18; altered. Large roughly-coursed rubble, apparently dry-jointed except the north gable wall which is slobbered, with through-stones and large quoins; stone slate roof to the west side, slate to the east side. Rectangular plan on north-south axis, with the former dwelling at the north end and a lean-to addition to the south end. EXTERIOR: the east front has a vertical joint about the middle of the range; the former dwelling to the right has an enlarged doorway and a small window to the right of that; the barn to the left has through-stones on 3 levels and a shippon doorway near the corner. The lean-to has a similar doorway. The north gable wall has large through-stones and a cut-down corbelled chimney. The rear (west side) has a blocked window or doorway to the former dwelling and a square window above and to the left, with a board door; the barn has a loading doorway. INTERIOR: tapered recess for former smokehood leading up to corbelled chimney with smoke-blackened stone bressumer; remains of former plaster on walls. Otherwise, altered.
