Description

MELBECKS FEETHAM SD 99 NE (north side) 15/84 Punch Bowl Hotel GV II Hotel. Dated 1638 but mainly of mid C18 appearance. Coursed rubble, artificial slate roof. 3 storeys, of 2 builds, 3:3 bays, sash windows in ashlar surrounds. Left-hand half: doorway between bays 1 and 2 has C20 part-glazed door in quoined surround with lintel inscribed 'R W 1638' but lettering does not look C17. Blocked fire window with moulded surround between bays 2 and 3. Firemark on second floor between bays 1 and 2. Stacks with classical cornices at ends and between bays 2 and 3. Right-hand half: door to left in ashlar surround, 4 windows on both ground and second floors, end stack to right. C20 2-storey extension projects forward on right.
