Description
Birds Nest Close is a lead miners cottage with an attached barn, dating from around 1700 and altered in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof with raised ashlar gables. It has a single central ridge chimney stack and is two storeys high.
The main southeast facade includes a doorway on the left framed by an ashlar block surround, with a slightly smaller window above it. There is another doorway to the left of centre, which has a plank door, and above it to the left is a taking-in door with a plank stable door. Both the left and right returns of the building are blank, although the shadow of a former steep gable is still visible. The rear facade is also blank, except for a small lean-to addition on the left, which has a corrugated iron roof.
