Description

The Market Cross in Askrigg was built in 1830 by local mason Leonard Hesletine. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a base made up of six octagonal steps. The cross itself has an octagonal shaft with a square base. This structure replaces an older cross, as the market charter for Askrigg was granted in 1587.
