Description

Knight's Stainforth Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century additions, located gable end to the street. It features rubble stone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with a recessed central bay. The entrance, positioned to the right of the centre, has a double quirked bead moulded surround, a hoodmould, and a sundial above, although the painted figures on the sundial are now illegible. The entrance door is made of planks.

To the left of the entrance is a three-light double chamfered mullioned window with a slate dripstone. Above this on the upper floor is a similarly proportioned four-light window. The left-hand bay contains a three-light double chamfered ovolo mullioned window on each storey, both also featuring slate dripstones. The right-hand bay is constructed of squared coursed rubble and has a 19th-century three-light mullioned window in each storey, with the ground floor window also having a slate dripstone. All windows have 20th-century casements or sashes.

The farmhouse has gable end ridge stacks and a ridge stack at the junction of the left-hand and central bays, along with stone ridge coping. The property is currently undergoing modernisation and has an inglenook fireplace that has been inserted from elsewhere.
