Description

STAINFORTH KNIGHT STAINFORTH SD 86 NW 2/20 Knight's Stainforth Farmhouse (formerly listed 20.2.58 as Knight's Farmhouse) GV II Farmhouse gable end to street. C17 with C19 additions. Rubble stone dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with a recessed central bay. Entrance to right of centre has a double quirked bead moulded surround with hoodmould and sundial above with gnomon but painted figures now illegible; plank door. 3-light double chamfered mullioned window immediately to its left has a slate dripstone; on upper floor window above this is of similar proportions but has 4-lights left-hand bay has a 3-light double chamfered ovolo mullioned window in each storey, both with slate dripstones. Right-hand bay is of squared coursed rubble with a C19 3-light mullioned window in each storey, the ground floor window having a slate dripstone. All windows have C20 casements or sashes. Gable end ridge stacks and ridge stack at junction of left-hand and central bays. Stone ridge coping. This property is currently undergoing modernisation and has an inglenook fireplace inserted from elsewhere.
