Description

The Mill is a former corn and cotton mill that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century, with alterations from the 19th century and a conversion in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed from coursed rubble and is rendered, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. It has two storeys and features nine first-floor windows. The corners are marked by quoins. To the left, there is a 20th-century glazed door set in a plain surround. The windows are rectangular and fitted with 20th-century two-light casements, also in plain surrounds. The building has plain gutter brackets and a 20th-century stack located at the eaves between the fifth and sixth windows, as well as at the rear right. Inside, remnants of wheel pits and water channels can be found on the right side, adjacent to the stream, although no machinery remains. Initially, the building was used as a corn mill and was adapted for cotton spinning around 1820. It is included for its group value.
