Description
Green Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed of rubble with a graduated thin stone slate roof and features two storeys and two bays. The right bay projects as a two-storey outshut that has two ground floor windows. To the left bay, there is a lean-to porch with a large, slightly projecting stack to its left, and another stack on the ridge to the right.
On the left side of the building, there are three-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows on each floor, with a hoodmould above the ground floor window. The gable is topped with a ball finial. Although the interior was not inspected during the re-survey, it was reported in 1986 that it contains no original features. It is likely that the left bay is all that remains of a larger 17th-century house, with the right bay being a later addition. The mullion windows would have originally been on the front of the house, which would have extended further to the left. Alternatively, the 17th-century bay may have served as a projecting parlour wing.
