Description
The Garth is a house built around 1840, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and has a slate roof. The building features a central staircase plan and has a garden front that is two storeys high with four bays. The central entrance has a plain surround and a moulded hood, with 20th-century French windows. The left and right bays project slightly and are gabled, complete with kneelers and coping. There is a tripartite window on the ground floor of the left-hand bay, while the other three ground floor and four upper floor windows have plain surrounds and consist of nine-pane sashes. Both floors have sill bands, and the eaves are decorated with modillions. The left-hand gable end and a ridge stack are located to the right of the center. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with an open string and stick balusters.
