Description
This building is a barn located approximately 30 meters north-east of High Stangerthwaite Farmhouse. It is likely from the early 17th century, with a roof that was raised at a later date. The structure is made of stone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and consists of four bays.
On the ground floor, there are double-chamfered-mullioned windows arranged in a pattern of 4:3:4:2 lights, while the first floor features windows with a configuration of 3:3:3:1 lights, although there is no glazing present. There is a top pitching hole and a plain entrance located between the second and third bays. The right side of the barn has two windows with two lights on the first floor. At the rear, there is a barn entrance with paired doors that leads to the first floor level.
