Description

Ghyll Cottage and Fell View is a pair of houses, originally three, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with alterations made in 1868. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble and topped with stone slate roofs, standing two to three storeys high with two first-floor openings on one side and three on the other.

The right range is two storeys tall and features quoins. It has central paired ashlar doorways with bases, imposts, rounded inner corners to the lintels, and cornices. Above the doorways, there is an ashlar plaque inscribed "MY 1868". The windows in this section are three-light flat-faced mullion windows, except for those above the doors, which have a recessed panel in an ashlar surround. There is a stack at the left end of this range.

The left range, part of Ghyll Cottage, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is three storeys high, with quoins on the left side. The ground floor features a central boarded door in a chamfered ashlar surround, with a four-pane fixed-light window to its right, complete with a slab sill and lintel. The first and second floors have four-pane sash windows set in slab surrounds. The left side has a shaped kneeler, ashlar coping, and an end stack. It is likely that the right range was originally one house that was divided into two in 1868.
