Description
Hall Garth is a house built in the late 18th century, constructed of ashlar with a slate roof and featuring a central staircase plan. It has a gable end facing the street and is three storeys high with five bays, where the outer bays are slightly recessed. The central entrance is adorned with engaged Tuscan columns and a moulded cornice, leading to a six-panel door topped with a rectangular fanlight. The ground floor windows on either side of the entrance are tripartite, featuring engaged columns and sash windows without glazing bars. The left and right ground floor and all five upper floor windows have recessed sashes, and there is a cornice along the top. A right-hand fluted iron rainwater head, typical of the late 18th century, is also present. The hipped roof has ridge stacks on the left and right, with eight and five flues respectively. Inside, there is an open-string dog-leg staircase with stick balusters, and a late 18th-century curve to the end wall of the former dining room. This house was built for the agent of the Ingleborough Estate.
