Description
The Beechers (Middle Cottage) is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with painted stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys tall and features a double front. There is a central entrance with a plain surround, which holds a late 19th-century four-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. Each storey has two windows, all fitted with 20-pane sash windows, except for the left-hand upper floor window, which has 16 panes. The quoins to the right of the entrance indicate that the right-hand bay is an addition that follows the curve of the street. The eaves are adorned with shaped modillions, and there is a central ridge stack. This cottage is included in the listing for its group value.
