Description
Fall View is a house located in Clapham-cum-Newby, dating from the mid-18th century with early 19th-century alterations. The exterior features pebbledash with painted stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It has a central staircase plan and is two storeys high with three bays. The entrance, positioned left of centre, is adorned with Tuscan pilasters and an open pediment, leading to a six-panel door with a glazed fanlight above. Each storey has three windows with plain surrounds and projecting sills, which are sash windows. There are pilaster strips separating the right-hand bay from The Beeches, the upper cottage to the left that was formerly part of Fall View. The eaves are decorated with shaped modillions, and there are gable end and ridge stacks located to the left and right of centre. At the rear, there is a mid-18th-century moulded surround to a former entrance that is now blocked. Inside, the house features a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters and a ramped handrail.
