Description

The Old Manor House is a former manor house that has been converted into a community centre. It dates back to 1701, with some alterations made in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of strap-pointed rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. It has a gable end facing the street and is two storeys high with five bays.

The third bay features a projecting two-storey gabled entrance porch. The entrance has a moulded surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "C W I," along with a hoodmould that has spiral stops. The door is a six-panel design. There is a 20th-century entrance located in the second bay.

On the ground floor, the first bay has a three-light chamfered window with ovolo mullions, and to the right of the main entrance is a similar five-light window, both with dripstones. The upper floor contains four two-light windows that match those on the ground floor. Above the entrance, there is a stepped three-light chamfered window with an ovolo mullion and a decorated hoodmould with spiral stops. The gable features four rows of pigeon holes arranged in a triangular pattern, and the gable ridge has a base for a finial, which is now missing.

The left-hand gable end has a ridge stack, while the right-hand gable end has a massive projecting ridge stack. Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace with moulded impost blocks, 18 joggled voussoirs, and a decorated keystone inscribed with the year 1701, along with bread ovens on both the left and right sides.
